From North India, 19th Century: In different regions of India, the piece has different names: North India = Hasali, Gujarat = Hansdi, Jaisalmer = Hansali. In Gujarati, 'hansdi ni hadku' means collar bone. In the West this necklace is called an enamelled gem-set torque. Its rigid form sports a gem-set rosette to centre and a hinged screw-pin clasp for attaching. The upper side is decorated with rubies and lasque diamond-set flowers, edges with row of strung seed-pearls. H: 15cm. Diameter: 17 cm. Sotheby's
